What is Breast Thermography?

Thermography combines advanced digital technology with ultra-sensitive infrared camera imaging to create a significant advance in the safe and early screening for breast cancer. Breast thermography detects patterns of heat emitted from the blood vessels in the breasts.

Prior to a tumor being formed, cells in the breast begin to create a cancer-friendly environment. Part of this process involves angiogenesis, the development of new blood vessels. These blood vessels provide a blood supply to the area for the cancer to grow. The process of angiogenesis creates heat patterns. Thermography, being sensitive to fluctuations in temperature, detects these changes in the breasts and displays them graphically as variations in color.

ThermaScreen's simple 4 second scan can sample over 60,000 temperature points within the area of the breast. Compiling this data enables early detection of abnormal physiological function long before it is detected with conventional means of x-ray mammograms or ultrasound.

What to Expect

Who is a Candidate for
Breast Thermography?

Breast thermography is a good choice for any woman who desires a painless and radiation-free procedure to screen for breast cancer. It is especially effective with populations where mammography is rather insensitive, such as:
Pre-menopausal women
Pregnant or lactating women
Women with fibro-cystic disease
Women who have undergone surgical breast enhancement or reduction, including mastectomy
Large-breasted women or women with dense breast tissue
Post-menopausal women taking hormone replacement therapy
